Your Soul wants out. All of us at the Center have found that more and more, the problems our clients bring us have embedded in them spiritual issues that "want out of the closet." Therapy that ignores this is likely to fail.
The Soul of Psychotherapy We make a distinction between religion and spirituality. We are not pastoral counselors and don't work standing on a platform of religion. Yet all of us are deeply spiritual, and that informs our work because it's at the core of who we are as human beings. We believe it's at the core of yours, too. If the issues for which you come to us for help touch your core, then we'll be working with your spirit no matter what. Best do it consciously.
What we Believe
There is a force or energy bigger than we are that organizes the way things work. We can't change that force, but we can participate in it. Each of us has the potential to be, as Mufasa says, "more than we have become so far." We continue that journey by, as Oprah says, "remembering our spirits." "Symptoms" are not signs of illness to be removed. They are signs of the coping skills that got us where we are. They must be respected until healing and growth make them unnecessary. Therapists are people too. We live a life, struggle with trouble, and journey with you awhile.
